Ken Block's All-Electric Rallycross Fiesta
Back in August, Ken Block announced he'd be competing in the 2020 Projekt E Series, an all-electric rally program that's part of the World Rallycross Championship in Europe, with an all-electric Fiesta race car. Well, the first race happened, and Block won.
Following the event, the Hoonigan driver published a short video of him whipping the car around the track in Höljes, Sweden, getting extremely sideways and catching lots of air. Despite the heavy batteries, the car seems just as agile and quick as any gas-powered rallycross car. And as Ken discovers later in the video, it has no trouble ripping tires to shreds during an extended donut session.
he car, built by Austrian company Stard, uses a Fiesta body shell and three electric motors. They make a total of 613 horsepower and 739 lb-ft of torque, sending thrust to all four wheels via two transmissions—one at each axle.
We'd love to see how the Fiesta EV compares to Block's other Fords, namely his Escort Cosworth stage rally car and his Focus RX rallycross car. Perhaps a battle with RTR's 1400-horsepower Mach-E drift car? Either way, we'd love to see more of this thing.
