Three-Row Tesla Model Y Will Go into Production Next Month

Musk confirmed on Twitter—surprising, right?—that deliveries for the seven-seater Model Y will begin in December, after production begins next month.

• He also said that deliveries should begin in December for the $3000 add on.
• The Model Y has been in production for around nine months now, and the first U.S. deliveries began back in March of this year.

It’s been known that a three row, seven seat Tesla Model Y was in the pipeline, but until now, the timeline for it was vague. In a tweet this afternoon, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the three-row Model Y will go into production beginning next month, and deliveries will begin starting in December.

The idea that the Model Y could be transformed into a three-row vehicle was brought up in March 2019, when the crossover originally debuted. Now roughly nine months since production began in February 2020, the seven-seater Model Y will start to be available. This configuration is a $3000 add-on, and the Tesla website says that it won't be available until 2021.

Starting at $51,190, the Model Y boasts an EPA-rated range of 315 miles for both the Long Range and Performance variants. Currently, there aren’t dimensions available for the third row of the Model Y, but we are definitely curious to see what kind of seats can be pulled out of that trunk space.
