2021 Chevrolet Silverado HD Gets More Features

After a redesign last year, the 2021 Silverado HD gets a small price bump and adds more available features plus the additional towing capacity.

  • The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado HD, fresh off a complete redesign, adds several available features and bumps up maximum towing capacity to 36,000 pounds.
  • The Silverado HD gets a price hike of $100 across its trim levels.
  • Production of the Silverado HD started in September and will reach dealers through the fall.

For 2021, the Chevrolet Silverado HD is getting small updates after a complete redesign last year. Maximum towing capacity, for starters, gets a boost by 500 pounds, making the heavy-duty Chevy truck now capable of towing 36,000 pounds. Beyond that, the technologies to make towing easier have been expanded from the 1500 to the 2500 and 3500 HD trucks, which also received price bumps of $100, so they start at $36,295 and $37,495, respectively.

The updated Silverado HD will also offer new towing tech, including a trailer length indicator to assist in lane changing, a jackknife alert that can notify the driver if a trailer could jackknife into the truck, and cargo-bed view enhancement, which makes it easier to align and hook up a fifth-wheel trailer, among other technologies.

The 2021 Silverado HD will also be offered in several special editions, including the Carhartt Edition (above), which comes with all-weather floor liners with the Carhartt badge, Carhartt pinstripes down the Mosaic Black Metallic exterior paint, black and Carhartt Brown interior leather seating, as well as Carhartt badging on the doors and tailgate. Other special editions include the blacked-out Midnight Edition, the Z71 Sport Edition, and the Z71 Chrome Sport Edition.

The Chevy Silverado HD began production in September and will be reaching dealers through this fall.
