2021 Jaguar XF Prices Slashed as XE Discontinued

With a $7105 lower base price, the updated mid-sizer will now serve as Jag's entry-level sedan as the XE bites the dust in the U.S.

  • The Jaguar XF is revised for 2021, and the smaller XE sedan is discontinued for the U.S.
  • The 2021 XF has a base price of $45,145, $7105 lower than last year, and a new infotainment system and updated styling.
  • The XF also drops its V-6 engine option, now offering only four-cylinder P250 and P300 models.

Jaguar is killing off the entry-level XE sedan for the U.S. market and has revised the mid-size XF sedan in an attempt to take its place. The 2021 XF sedan has a significantly lower base price and also benefits from styling and technology updates. It's no longer available with an optional V-6 engine, and the XF Sportbrake wagon variant has also been discontinued.

Now that the XF is the last Jaguar sedan standing—at least until the upcoming electric XJ arrives—it's tasked with covering a broader spectrum of the luxury-sedan market. As such, Jaguar chopped $7105 off the base price, bringing it closer to the XE's previous base price of $40,950. The 2021 XF P250 S now starts at $45,145 and comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 246 horsepower, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive. Equivalently sized four-cylinder sedans from BMW and Mercedes, the 5-series and E-class, start in the mid-$50,000 range, although the new Genesis G80 offers an enticing value proposition with its starting price of $48,725.

The XF's only engine upgrade is now a more 296-hp powerful version of the same 2.0-liter turbo-four, available in the P300 R-Dynamic model that starts at $51,145. That's an $8555 drop compared with last year's equivalent 30t model. The 380-hp supercharged V-6 previously offered in the S model has been dropped. All-wheel drive remains an option for both P250 and P300 models.

Revisions to the XF's interior include a new 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a curved glass screen. It includes new connectivity features such as over-the-air updates. There are also new trim options and ambient lighting to spruce up the cabin. Exterior changes are subtle and serve to sharpen the appearance of the sedan with tweaked headlights and taillights, new wheel designs, and a few other trim changes.

The updated XF will reach dealerships in January 2021, and some leftover 2020 XE models may remain in dealer inventories for the time being if you're looking to snag the last model year of that compact sedan.
