Genesis Gives Early Look at 2022 GV70
This camouflaged version of the upcoming GV70 foretells the new crossover's styling, which closely resembles that of the GV80.
- Genesis has released camouflaged images of the upcoming GV70 SUV.
- The GV70 will be based off the G70 sedan, and it will sport the same fresh looks as the rest of the Genesis lineup.
- A turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder will be the base engine option with a 3.5-liter V-6 as an option.
Genesis's new look—involving crest grilles and quad headlamps—was introduced on the brand's first SUV, the GV80, and was then carried over to the G80 and G70 sedans. A second SUV is coming, called the GV70, which will be based upon the G70 sedan, and it will sport the same fresh appearance as the other cars in the Genesis lineup.
Just as the larger GV80 SUV utilizes the G80 sedan's platform, the GV70 compact luxury SUV will ride on the G70 sedan's platform. A 290-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four is expected to be the base engine, with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that is found in the two other Genesis vehicles as an option. And, because it's an SUV, all-wheel drive should be available.
A 10.3-inch infotainment screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability come standard on the 2022 G70, which recently received the refreshed look. The GV80 SUV and G80 sedan have similar interiors, so expect the G70's new interior to carry over to the GV70.
The 2022 GV70 SUV should go on sale in the U.S. sometime next year, following the new G70 sedan, which is coming in late 2020 or early 2021. Expect pricing to start over $40,000.
