2021 Lexus RC F Fuji Speedway Edition

Lexus will limit production to just 60 examples.

In 2014, Lexus took its two-door RC and gave it a sporty F variant to compete against a class of German superstars: BMW M4, AMG C63, and Audi RS5. In 2020, a Track Edition arrived, attempting to fix the RC F's shortcomings. For 2021, Lexus builds off that to offer the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition. Production is limited to just 60 examples of the sports car, just like last year's Track Edition.

The Fuji Speedway Edition, paying homage to the iconic race track in the famous mount's foothills, tweaks many of the RC F's features to improve its performance. The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 remains unchanged, producing 472 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 395 pound-feet (535 Newton-meters) of torque. Other tweaks include further weight reduction –  Lexus doesn't specify how much is cut, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust, and "extensive use of carbon fiber aerodynamics." Lexus claims it'll hit 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.96 seconds.

Only two colors will be available for the car: Arctic Blast Satin or Cloudburst Gray. The Arctic Blast is a first for Lexus – a semi-matte finish completed using a "unique white paint" process. It retains a matte finish's satin look, yet Lexus says it's durable enough for a spin through an automatic car wash. Inside, the automaker adds Circuit Red leather-trimmed seats with Alcantara accents and red carbon fiber ornamentation throughout. Each RC F Fuji Speedway Edition model comes with a limited-production MSTR watch with a gunmetal bezel, red stitching on the band, and branding.

The new model year also brings with it new equipment to the RC F. Android Auto is now available, joining Amazon Alexa integration and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other standard features for the 2021 RC F include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, heated exterior mirrors, and a memory driver's seat feature that's absent in the Fuji Speedway Edition model. Lexus didn't disclose pricing information, though we should get those details closer to the car's on-sale date.
